Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity seeks to provide families in our community with decent and affordable homes. This process is only possible through the contribution of habitat volunteers. If you volunteer with Habitat you are guaranteed a life changing experience that allows you to make a difference, create new friends, learn new skills, and see your hard work come to fruition.
As a volunteer with Habitat you will be able to think globally but act locally!
Save money on a retreat for your business or family. Plan a Habitat work day instead! We welcome individuals, businesses, church groups, college groups, and high school students. You must be 16 years of age to volunteer on the job site.
Habitat 101 classes will be held on the first Thursday of each month from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The purpose of Habitat 101 is to give people a brief and fun tour and overview of our organization and what it takes to make our program work (Hint: it's a lot!).
Who should attend? Everyone is welcome. We encourage our current volunteers to attend and bring a friend so we can introduce our programs to even more people. Even some of our longtime volunteers might enjoy attending a session to brush up on what's going on at Habitat now. There is no cost to attend a Habitat 101 and this is not a fundraising event.
RSVP by calling Megan, Volunteer Coordinator, at 615.890.5877 ext. 6
by Wednesday at 5:00 pm.
We offer special Habitat 101 sessions for large groups or businesses!

“Currently I have a job that requires a bit of travel and a good bit of time Monday through Friday. I get up early on Saturday mornings to work at Habitat. This proves to be the more rewarding and gratifying part of the week. I see first hand that I can make a difference in someone’s life. I have met the people who will live in these home’s and see people who have had a few set backs, but want to improve things for themselves and their families. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to assist in their efforts. It also makes my personal religious life a bit more “real”, All in all, it is one of the most gratifying and humbling experiences I have had. I am only thankful that I can help.” ~ Bob Schwarz / Regular Volunteer
“I started doing volunteer work with our community corporation in Maryland in 1988. After I retired in 1996 I was a Crime Analyst volunteer with our county police department. When we moved to Murfreesboro in 2004 I looked for another volunteer opportunity and was fortunate enough to find that Rutherford County had a Habitat for Humanity affiliate. I’ve been helping Roy Saylor with home construction for 4 years (as of March 2009) and am now working on my 36th house. The psychological income that comes from this work is immense. Helping others help themselves is personally rewarding and I encourage any and all to come out and give us a hand.” ~ Steve Moore / Regular Volunteer
“One of my favorite parts of volunteering for Habitat is working with the crew. There is an overwhelming feeling of happiness on the job site and it makes for a very pleasant work environment. Thanks for letting me be a part of it!” ~ Laurel Streetman / Regular Volunteer
“Being a part of a community is helping out each other when there is a need. It is a lot of fun getting to be a part of working on a Habitat home, not only working on the home itself but getting to meet other people and serving one another. Christ came to show His love and to set an example of service and we should also do the same by serving others.” ~ Debbie McClain / Regular Volunteer
“The major benefit I receive from volunteering to work at Habitat is the obvious benefit you always receive from giving your time to others. Second only to this is working with the members of the staff at Habitat. Everyone there is dedicated to the work they do and seems to enjoy being there.” ~ Tommy Seymour / Regular Volunteer
